The Holloway Prize (even older in its 24th year) provides tens of thousands of dollars in cash and services to the winners. Please come to learn more about these opportunities, what happens at the end of each event, and how each program might give you the first glance at the "next big thing" to come out of UNH.

DURHAM, N.H. – The deadline for the next round of funding proposals for the Green Launching Pad is Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, with the emphasis in this funding round on green manufacturing.
“Revitalizing manufacturing in the state and the region is vital to economic prosperity. Our green manufacturing focus will help address economic and environmental concerns simultaneously through job creation and help stimulate the manufacturing sector through use of environmentally friendly materials, and a reduction in energy use in the manufacturing process and in unwanted by-products and waste. We hope New Hampshire entrepreneurs and businesses will take advantage of this competitive funding process to help our local economy grow and stay competitive,” said Venky Venkatachalam, co-project director of the Green Launching Pad and a University of New Hampshire professor of decision sciences.
UNH Seminar: Raising Non-Dilutive Capital 11/17

Innovation Catalyst Seminar
Non-Dilutive Capital for Small Businesses
Date: Thursday, November 17, 2011
Location: UNH Memorial Union Building (MUB) Theater I
Time: 4:00 – 5:30 pm
If funding via angel investment and venture capital is like slicing up your company's turkey, non-dilutive capital sources are like wonderful guests who show up bringing their own side dishes! Not enough as an entrée but an important part of the complete meal.
This seminar will focus on one of the most attractive topics in company formation—sources of non-dilutive funding. These funding sources bring much-needed cash into an organization but do not require the sale of equity, meaning you ownthe same amount of your company both before and after receiving funds. Certain types of non-dilutive funding (like SBIR/STTR) can be used effectively as start-up capital before your business truly ramps up.
Topics to be discussed include venture lending, financing your receivables, and different types of grants available for technology based businesses.
Speakers:
Pete McDonald, Vice President of Silicon Valley Bank
Pete McDonald is a Relationship Manager with SVB Silicon Valley Bank’s Emerging Technologies practice. Pete leads SVB’s efforts in New England, providing banking services to hundreds of early-stage technology and life science start-ups. A majority of his portfolio consists of companies working towards raising their first round of equity. As part of his role, he acts as a resource for these companies as they begin the fund raising process, including business idea feedback, plan/slide deck review, and insight into the current investment climate. Pete has been with SVB for over 16 years beginning as an analyst in the Bank’s Boston office and relocating to Virginia as part of the founding team in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Followed by cocktails and networking from 5:00-6:30pm downtown provided by our sponsors
