Fair Use in US Copyright Law

This month’s seminar speakers will be David McIntosh, a Partner at Ropes & Gray with 14 years of experience advising institutions, investors and companies of all sizes in all manner of intellectual property-related matters, and Nate Kurtis, an Associate at Ropes & Gray with experience in engineering, technology and the arts.

Their presentation will cover:

•     Background fundamentals in U.S. Copyright Law.
•     Fair use in the U.S., with specific focus on fair use in academic and entrepreneurial contexts.
•     A brief discussion on the use of, and requirments with respect to, open source software.

The seminar will be followed by cocktails and networking from 5:00-7:00pm at Ballard's Restaurant in downtown Durham courtesy of seminar sponsors Devine Millimet, Pierce Atwood, Ropes & Gray, and Salient Surgical Technologies.  This event is free and open to the public.
